In Tanzania, 70% of the population is entirely dependent on the land to survive. However, according to tradition, women can neither own nor inherit land. To break free from this rule, women of the Kuria people in the north of the country use a custom called Nyumba ntobu ("The House of Women"), that is to say marriage between women.
